You may be looking at a future Pulitzer Prize winning author!
Ms. Stewart's first graders authored their very own books about animals-and had them published into print!
You can imagine their excitement when they were able to hold their very own book in their hands!
We will be on the lookout for sequels!

It is with great pride that we announce the winner of the 2024 Lariton Award, Junior Liam Ezard. Middle/High School Principal Mrs. Peet presented the award at an assembly for all middle/high school students.
"It is my honor today to present the Lariton Award this year to a student who embodies the qualities that made Anthony M. Lariton a part of our YCS history. During Mr. Lariton's 28-year career at YCS he held many jobs. His career began as a teacher, then as a school counselor, and until his death in 1975 he was York High School Principal.
During these many years Mr. Lariton modeled the qualities that make this award York's most prestigious.
This award in his memory looks for a person who shows outstanding citizenship as a member of the school community, who shows respect to fellow students and who is a person who understands the true value of an education. This person is also someone who has the knowledge that courtesy is the golden key which unlocks each door of life.
As an outstanding member of their class, the award recipient mirrors the qualities of Anthony M. Lariton-Educator, Gentlemen and Friend.
It is with great pleasure that I present the 2024 Lariton Award to Junior Liam Ezard," Mrs. Peet said.

Fifth Graders Entertain the Audience on Steelpan drums
York Central School Alumnus Ted Canning returned to his alma mater to instruct fifth grade students on the unique sound of the steelpan drum.
Mr. Canning worked with the students for just five days, teaching them about the history of drums and how to play the steelpans. Remarkably, the students learned the instrument very well and performed two wonderful concerts - one in the afternoon for the elementary school, and one in the evening for their families and the community.
This marked the fifteenth year that Mr. Canning has returned to York Elementary School to share his love and knowledge of steelpan drum with our students. We appreciate Mr. Canning’s devotion to YES.
